What You'll Do

As an Accounts Payable Associate at Cohen & Co, you will play an important role in supporting the firm’s accounting operations. This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and contributing to a collaborative team.

Responsibilities:

 

Accounts Payable & Financial Processing

  • Review, verify, and record vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records including the setup of vendors.
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor inquiries.
  • Issue, reissue, and distribute checks; process special payment requests as needed.
  • Process and record ACH payments.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and firm policies.

 

Reporting & Reconciliation

  • Support annual reporting processes including 1099 preparation.
  • Assist with account reconciliations and documentation preparation.
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable files and supporting documentation.

 

Team Collaboration & Process Support

  • Coordinate closely with the broader accounting and finance teams.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and external vendors.
  • Demonstrate strong organization and time management skills while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies

Who You Are

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of one year of accounts payable or banking/financial services experience required; real estate experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with accounting or accounts payable software (e.g., Yardi, Bill, Expensify, or similar systems) preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Estimated Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000
